Deacon Sanghwa Park, age 54, Parish 1, South Korea


On January 15, 2016, it was around 3:30 P.M. I was driving a one-ton truck on Geyeongbu expressway at about 100km/hr speed. Suddenly, a big cargo truck right in front of my car stepped on the brake! I felt instinctively it would lead to a serious accident that might claim my life. Praying, "Father God, protect me!" I closed my eyes.

I had no time even to step on the brake and my car crashed into the truck. Bang! When I opened my eyes, I saw the windshield broken and the front frame of my car that was totally bent.

I felt severe pain in my knees but when I received Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer recorded on the Automated Response System the pain was gone. I could not get out of my car so I was trapped in the car for around 20 minutes, but I felt peaceful because I was sure that God had protected me.

The 119 rescue team members got me out of the car. They were surprised to see that I was not hurt at all and said, "Are you really ok after this big accident?" I had a medical examination in a nearby hospital and it showed that I had no problem at all throughout my body. I heard later that the cars running before the big cargo truck had crashed first and the truck suddenly stopped. That is why the accident even happened to me.

It was Friday, so I went to church as usual to help traffic control near the church as a leader of Manmin Volunteers' Group. Feeling the gratefulness for the grace of God, I volunteered more happily than ever before. When I looked back on the accident, I felt more thankful for the love of God.

If my car had got dented just 1cm more towards my body, it would have hurt my knees and abdomen. It would have been a very dangerous situation. However, God of love protected me so that I was not injured. Moreover, even broken pieces of windshield did not hurt my face and I did not suffer any financial loss because the repair cost was covered by insurance.

Two months have passed since the accident, but I have been healthy with no bodily injury or pain. I am feeling joy of gaining a new life and living my precious days to enter the best heavenly dwelling place, New Jerusalem. I give all thanks and glory to God who always protects me in the Lord.
