Brother Seungwoo Lee, age 56, Parish 10, Manmin Central Church with his wife Deaconess Jeongye Jeong, daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law
I did not have true faith although I attended worship services due to my wife's request. I heard many times that I should read Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee's book The Message of the Cross since it contains the basics of Christianity but I did not. In early April, 2017, I experienced a great change that I had never imagined possible while reading the book.
In the book, I realized why I can be forgiven of my sins and saved through Jesus' crucifixion, why diseases come from sins, and why I should go to church. Such topics that no other Christian books can clarify were all covered. I stayed up late at night and read the book three times. I found I had lived my life in a wrong way. I wanted to believe God by my own will, not to appease the desires of others.
On April 8, it was Saturday morning. I felt nauseous and had a headache. I thought it was indigestion but in the evening it got worse. I could not sleep due to a severe headache. And I felt dizzy when I went to the bathroom, so I had to hold my hands onto the wall.
On Sunday morning, April 9, I staggered while going to church. My body tilted to left. My wife asked me to go to hospital but I wanted to rely on God. When I arrived at the church, however, I had to lie down. People said it could be a stroke and led me to the Senior Pastor for prayer. He prayed for me earnestly with his hand on my head.
On the morning of April 10, I felt nausea and vomited, so I went to see a doctor. He said my cerebellum was damaged due to cerebral infarction and I would have aftereffects from it. He meant that cerebellum plays an important role in human body's motor control and because mine was damaged I would be stricken by paralysis soon. I was moved to Intensive Care Unit. The doctor said to me, after my test result was revealed, "According to your brain image, it should not be possible for you to talk and have a clear mind. But you can talk and you are normal. It's really amazing." He asked me several times if I had some problems and my arms and legs lost strength or felt numb, but I said I was okay. He thought it strange. Two days later I did not even have a headache, and I recovered and came to walk for myself.
When I read The Message of the Cross again in the patient's room, it deeply touched my heart and I shed a lot of tears in my heart. I felt like every single line was given to me who had been born again by the grace of God, so I underscored important parts and kept them in my heart. I regretted that I had not known the love of God before and lived as I wanted. I felt thankful to Senior Pastor who renewed my soul with his powerful prayer.
On the fourth day, I felt good and wanted to leave hospital, but the doctor did not allow it, saying, "It could be dangerous. Let's observe your progress more." I was moved to the general ward. I had no problem at all in walking, eating, and talking. He continued to say it was his very first time to see this kind of situation, and I left hospital on May 2. I started working as usual. I work, take a walk, and exercise. I feel so good and am very healthy.
Without Senior Pastor's prayer, I would live with disabilities due to the damage in cerebellum caused by cerebral infarction. I feel so grateful that I am living a normal life with no aftereffect. I give all thanks and glory to God.
