"My Mother Was in Coma Due to A Heart attack, but She Came Back to Life!"

| Manmin News No. 527 | 2017-01-29

Deaconess Sohee Kim, age 53, Parish 24, Manmin Central Church

Around 9:30 A.M. on Monday on December 12, 2016, I got a call from 911 Emergency Center. They said that my mother, Senior Deaconess Kyunghwa Yeo, age 79, had collapsed on the street due to a heart attack.

Rescue workers resuscitated her heart but she lay in coma in the emergency room of Seoul National University Hospital. She was moved to the intensive care unit for cardiovascular disease patients and had cardiovascular surgery. But her doctor said that chances were very low that she would come back to consciousness because her heart was resuscitated twenty minutes after her cardiac arrest. He added that even if she came back it was 100% certain there would be brain damage.

Together the church members prayed for her, and my parish pastor also prayed for her with the handkerchief (Acts 19:11-12). Because she was in the intensive care unit, the visitation to her was restricted. But when I entered, I let her hear Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer for the sick by my cell phone.

Thirty five hours passed after she collapsed. At 7 P.M. on 13th, a miracle happened. I let her hear Senior Pastor's prayer repeatedly as soon as I entered her room. About twenty minutes later my mother's lips moved and she said, "Amen!"

When I kept letting her hear the prayer, she said more clearly, "Amen," and when I called her "Mom!" she nodded. Around 8 P.M., she opened her eyes and moved her hands and feet following the doctor's instruction. Hallelujah!

On 14th, her doctor came and said to me, "I was so surprised to see her so normal. Honestly, I thought she would not awaken."

In the afternoon, her respirator was removed, and her CT scan showed no problem in her brain. She recovered very fast. On 16th, her nasogastric tube for feeding was removed. She came to be able to drink water and yogurt and eat well.

She was discharged from hospital in twelve days, and now she has restored energy and is living normally. Her memory is normal, and she can talk and move freely. She is full of thanks for God's protection in the shepherd's space.

I give all thanks and glory to the God of love who perfectly protected my mother in such a critical moment.
